In September 2010, EPA released a final removal Action Memorandum which describes the approved process for T-117 cleanup. The cleanup will remove all contaminated river sediment that exceeds the PCB cleanup level, and then backfill with clean material. No sediment will be left behind that exceeds the PCB cleanup level. The selected method of cleanup achieves the objective to rehabilitate a healthy environment for all who use and enoy the Lower Duwamish.

The Port is committed to pursuing a restoration project at the T-117 site once the cleanup is concluded. The Port's habitat restoration team is closely following the progress of the T-117 cleanup team in order to coordinate cleanup construction plans with habitat restoration efforts as best as possible. Community concerns will also be addressed by the team. Stay tuned for announcements and information about ways to get involved.
