T-117 Restoration

Is the Port still considering habitat restoration at the site?
Yes, the Port is still looking at habitat as the redevelopment option for the site. A designer has been selected to develop the habitat design options.
Please include a geo-caching node in the site restoration design. (Geo-caching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking “treasure”, using GPS technology. A node is a location where a “treasure” is hidden.)
We can’t make any promises about what the restoration design will include at this point, but we do commit to work closely with the community as habitat design proceeds, so that the site reflects the community’s values and desires as much as possible while preserving important environmental habitat functions.
When you use the word cleanup, what method of cleanup are you talking about?
Cleaning up to unrestricted use, leaving no restrictions on use. Then follow that with habitat restoration.
Would the tidal area that is cleaned up be part of the habitat restoration?
Yes, we would restore the cleaned up site with new aquatic habitat areas, both within the project’s former sediment and upland areas. The intertidal habitat is some of the most valuable habitat.
